When Life Gives You Twins...
Welcome to my chaotic little world!
When I found out I was having twins, I felt excited, blessed, thrilled and for the most part, prepared. Yes, prepared. My husband and I were New Yorkers, running around multi-tasking, working 11 - 12 hours per day. We could handle twins-- they will be so little and cute! How hard could it be?
Little did we know…
I can honestly say I wouldn’t trade the experience for anything. I am not going to lie though….it’s been a TON of work and I cried often during the first three years. I had post-partum depression. A husband that traveled for work. I had no help from my parents, in-laws or babysitters. Nanny? Nope!
No. Help. Ever. Okay, maybe I had a sitter on a Friday night in 2011. And maybe once or twice more in 2012.
My point? I had to get my strength back while being completely inundated with raising very active twins. I hope I can help parents, all types, (not only moms) navigate the tricky road to fitness and better health. Because it’s one thing to go to the gym when you don’t have to tote kids to child care and it’s another when you do. I didn’t see the inside of a gym for over two years after my kids were born. I had no choice but to pivot. Being active and working out will save you from the chaos. I know firsthand.
I seriously believe fitness, especially weight training, makes me a better person, a better parent. I want you to experience the same realization. Find that workout or sport that helps you navigate the chaos in your life. It’s a gift to be able to move and thrive. Enjoy every second.
